Derek, I guess I have some learning to do about Australia!  Hope ya'all don't mind teaching me and forgive my ignorance about your country!

Of course, if fuel was as expensive here as it is there, I'm sure we'd all be driving much smaller vehicles!  I know I would!  (well, maybe!   Grin

LK, I think we're the only folks on the planet that don't use the metric system!

What kind of mileage do you get with your vehicles?   Both towing and not towing?

My Suzuki has a 2.7 litre engine and normal driving I get 10.8 litres (2.9 gallons) to the 100 (62 miles) kilometres and 12.8 (3.4 gallons) when towing.

Not sure how to convert the engine size.

Hi Ausy.
Seems that you are yet another 75 series happy owner. And '87 it would have the good old 2H motor (unless petrol).
My first one was an '85 (first of the series) with 2H, perhaps Toyota's best diesel.
As you make comment, my'97 with 1Hz runs around pretty well up to its GVM and with the purchase of the new (to us) van @ 1.8t. loaded the horses were well taxed.
So recently (2000km) ago installed a low boost turbo (9psi) which has completely transformed the old girl.
Now cruising easily at 100, before struggling to maintain 90, fuel economy improved by nearly 1l./100km. so very happy with the result.
Not interested in HP., more the improvement in uphill towing, at least 1 gear better.
Happy travels Ausy, catch up with you round a camp fire some day.

I'm surprised there are not more Patrol owners here Shocked
The old Mq's and GQ's are indestructable.

Here's a pic of my trusty old 85 model MQ
Very Tough, Powerfull and economic 3.3ltr turbo deisel
Average around 10.5ltr/100klm  and around 13 to 14ltr/100klm when towing

Please, please tell me there are some other Jeep drivers on here.  Don't want to feel all alone.... Embarrassed

My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed.       I never knew they worked.
