Thanks to you all.

Are those pictures inside just for decoration, or do they have some function?

Actually they will put that imprint in the bread.

LK.  Decoration, they're only to make it look good, and they do.
Derek, the final price on that jaffle iron makes your 15" look like a real bargain Roll Eyes

I was watching it myself wondering if to buy it.  Rob they actually still make them at Furphy however they are now aluminium.  It's $250 as I write.

LK, maybe someone else can describe it better but a jaffle iron is two hinged saucers usually made of cast iron or aluminium facing each other and with long handles attached. Open it up, put a slice of buttered bread, the buttered side facing out in each saucer, fill up the centre with left-overs, vegies, stew, eggs whatever you fancy, put it in the fire or over a gas burner and give each side a couple of minutes, hey, toasted sandwich and every-one wanting another one. You don't see jaffle irons around much anymore, don't know why as its a good way of getting rid of leftovers and delicious too.

Have you noticed the Furphy jaffle iron for sale on eBay ? I was interested until the price passed $125.00, now it is twice that with a couple of days to go.
I have never seen one before and don't doubt they are quite rare and will get more so but is that a realistic price ?  PD
