That price for the materials at $77.00 looks good. But what worries me is the cost of the grog to glue it all together.

Was looking at building a cooking table for use on rainy days. Picked this up at a garage sale last weekend for $10. Cheaper than making one. Folds up & hangs on the wall.  Tried it out yesterday & baked a couple of cakes in the shed using Heat Beads. Will try & attach a photo of the results.

Ok, Furph. you're saying hungi.  In another thread gonephisin' used the word hangi.  Are we talking similar traditions in different parts of the south Pacific?  Details, me son, details, please.

P.S. I can find both in Oz google.
Cool

Mick

The two I have I paid $91.00 each air freighted from the States.

Wasn't to bad I thought.  Mind you the material would have little of the thickness of your design as they weigh only 11 kilos.

With ya on the smoker Furph,
Although I use my 15" CO as a hot smoker, just put my wood chips under the trivet instead of oil.

Took delivery of a second hand S/S industrial dish washer the other day, plan is to turn it into a cold smoker for ham, salami, jerky & such, will post when I get things going.

The weight is under 20Kg using 3mm plate & angle - bear in mind this a little larger than your one it is 800 x 400

Iv'e been given a price of materials cut to size from a steel merchant of $77

My estimate would be 30 Min,s to weld it together at a fab shop which would charge about $60 -$80/hr

so all up should be around $100

then you need some "pot belly black" paint.

of coarse it would be cheaper to take your time & "acquire" the material from other sources.

I have updated the drawing to REV E with some more detail & cut some more weight off it, will send soon.
