As some of you know Kez and I have spent the last 4 days in and around Toowoombah.... Arrived home 10.30pm last night after spending all day at a very interesting auction.
Firstly as KD has already reported there was very little in the way of camp ovens for sale at the Swap.
The only decent ovens I saw were the 8 inch Albion and the 24 inch base the bloke was needing a lid for, plus a heap of chinese cheapies. I ran into the bloke with the 8 inch on Sunday at Lancasters auction he did sell it ....but for $330.

Lancasters have an auction every year the day after the swap meet ,while all the serious collectors are still in town.
Mostly bloke stuff....Enamel signs, anvils, tools, oil bottles, dog traps ect. this year they had a lot of cast iron.

The link below is the online Catalogue for the auction if any one here is interested. The cast iron runs from approximatly lot 494 through to lot 574,
Some rare stuff amoungst it,,,,,lot 505      Funnel - cast iron with enamelled interior - made by 'Clarke' - star t/m - 25cm tall.
Also a cast iron bucket in there somewere,
photos of most items can be seen by clicking the icon to the right of description,

Shall post a bit more on this later today or tonight including prices that things sold for.

I dont think Landcasters would have become one of Australias biggest Antique auctioneers if they were in the habit of spreading viruses around through their online Catalogues LK Wink......still stranger things have happened.
Oven prices at auction were, all ovens were in excellent condition.
8 inch metters $225
10 inch metters $175
13 inch Albion $225
12 inch Simpson $200
14 inch Metters $225
lot 575 Clarke cast iron bucket , enamel inside, $425
lot 505 Clarke cast iron funnel , enamel inside, $325
lot 555 Clarke  cast iron 7 quart Digester (pessure cooker), enamel inside, $325

After looking at the prices above they are about what I'd expect to pay SBB. At Bathurst I saw a very average 10" Metters for $150, for some reason the lid didn't sit properly. Later I spoke to a dealer I know who bought it for $120, evidently the stall holder and his wife hadn't agreed on a price and they had a bit of a domestic  !
I got a nice water fountain at auction two weeks ago with original lid and spigot for $100 against only one other bidder, lucky on the day.
Was the 12" Simpson a steel Bedourie type and did you bid/buy anything ?

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

PD the Simpson was a cast camp oven in good nick......marked with simpson logo on the lid and under the pot.
I did buy a couple of things Undecided......one was a solid red cedar trunk...already been stripped .....just needs a coat of shellac to finish it.
They were having trouble getting a bid on it and it was gunna sell for $100.......I stuck my paw up thinking it was a bargin.
Problem is 3 other people had the same idea at exactly the same moment...... Boody thing cost me $185 in the end Grin
Still not bad for a large red cedar trunk Smiley
Also got a few dog traps at a reasonable price
