I have always enjoyed a late night pie floater, and seeing that it is to be eaten outdoors, I thought an excellent choice for the campoven.

This pic from outside the Adelaide Railway Station.

...

I copied the chef's recipe in the video from this link to make the pea soup.

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Split-Pea-Soup

I used 6 cups of stock instead of 8 to make my soup thicker.

made my first two batches at home with the camp oven on the stove top.

...

...

cooked up a batch at a camp last weekend and served it as a late night snack (after the boys had a few bevvies and dear ol' smokey was snuggled up in bed Smiley)

haven't had the time to make my own pies yet. will leave that 'till retirement Smiley Smiley

...

...

...

...

The drunker they are, the tastier it is  Smiley Smiley Smiley

surely there must be someone game enough to cook up a feed of this Smiley

you can then be added to the fan list  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

quote  taken from http://www.thepiecart.com.au/piefloater.html

Quote:
High profile fans of the pie floater are:  Rick Smiley, Anthony Bourdain, Joe Cocker, Billy Connolly, and Nigel Mansell.

something that I forgot to do at camp was to soak the split peas in bi-carb soda. I didn't think that it would matter, but it does give a greener colour to the soup.

Excellent effort.  Missed this thread before the Dimboola event.

I now have a new respect for the "Pie Floater" and will attempt to emulate the Master in this recipe.

My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed.       I never knew they worked.
