Will be selling the camper trailer when I get back to Brisbane.  Couple of reasons.  One being it is far too big for me on my own and I really do want to get back to tent camping.

So what should a designer trailer for a keen camper have in it.

For a start I want it to be fully self contained.  By that I am looking at something that holds all my camping gear and is ready to go.  Just throw in food and away.

Would need to be a tradesmans type trailer however small and lightweight.  Maybe alloy.

It needs a frame on top to hold the Oztent and tarps.  Possibly a basket type set-up.  Also needs to have pole holders.

Inside needs to have purpose built shelves and drawers for all sorts of things including cutlery and cooking utensils.

Would like a heavy duty battery setup with both solar and recharging capacity from the vehicle for the fridge.

What else .............. interested in peoples thoughts.

Oh yeah, it needs to be ready for the Thora COG in April 2011.

What about a set of removable tressels for an upside down tinny & small out board?

one question though,
What is a Desinger trailer?
Is that a trailer which stops your roof racks "singing" at high speed? Cheesy Cheesy Smiley Smiley

cupla questions [cant spell either or iether]
what are you going to pull it with/ 4x4 or other
how much ground clearance 14" wheels or 4x4 type
wieght of goods/ camp ovens are heavy [approx]
this is needed for brakes ETC
max length of poles,tent,tables etc
suggest 7x4 tradesman trailer s/h so you can use tech
screws, bolts, welder for easy conversion to suit your self
once you have what you want then go alloy
solar & batt setup is really only a few little add ons
6x4 might be a bit small, but may suit you
having said all this have found it easier to set up in steel
then go to alloy when happy
hope this makes you think, why did i ask Grin Grin Grin ;
just food for thought  Undecided

Derek i 'm building a teardrop style trailer atm, heres some pics
i started with a old cut down caravan chassis a guy was chucking, widened it, new axle, mounted my deep cycle batteries in the floor and water tank.

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

i used 7mm ply, then 1'' foam for insulation then covered the roof with gloss white colourbond to reflect heat hopefully and roof vent, the sides were done in aluminium composit panel

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

i've just got to finish the aluminium edging ,fitting out the galley and the sleeping area, its taken me about 6 months to get to this stage and so far cost around $3,500, i haven't weighed it yet but i reckon its about the 400kg mark but it tows really well.

Very impressive Shane, I like the whole concept of a teardrop 'van and have looked at buying the finished article but the bride remains unimpressed lol.
Yours looks good and terrific pics too.
