One of the great things about having the caravan with a fridge/freezer is the amount and variety of foods we can carry.  It pretty well leaves it endless as to what we can cook.  Used frozen puff pastry to make four apple turnovers on the Bedourie Camp Oven today.

As I am in a caravan park I used Heat beads and my old frying pan.  The story and recipe in pictures.

Heat Beads smoking up in the chimney in the frying pan. Note I am using an Aussie WindBreak from Southern Metal Spinners

...

Tinned apple and a hand full of sultanas mixed together make the filling. I would have added cinnamon but left it at home.  Cut a sheet of pastry diagonally in half and add the apple. Fold over and seal the edges with milk.

...

Into the Bedourie. Could only cook two at a time.

...

Lifting the lid at 25 minutes to see them cooked to perfection

...

Four beautifully cooked apple turnovers sitting on a rosewood cutting board that Maggie made at her Dad's place from a piece of rough timber.

How's that for camp oven tucker!!!!

I do remember buying it though. Smiley

I have a tin of pie apricots here and wondering what to make.  Turnovers again may be the go.
