Went for a drive day before yesterday and out behind Wivenhoe Dam cam across a roadside stall selling pumpkins.  Grabbed one for three bucks.

Today decided to cook pumpkin soup.

Chopped up half the pumpkin and added a couple of chopped potatoes.  Added a couple of chicken stock cubes, water and salt and pepper.

Cooked in the oven for an hour then mashed it all up then added half a cup of pure cream.

Served with a nice crusty damper cooked in another oven and there you have the best dinner on a cold night, particularly if you round it off with a little port Smiley

Glad to see quality Port from Griffith was the choice.

I am currently 'testing' a Bettina Rummy Fort from Westend Estate Griffith,  found in a West Wyalong bottle shop today.

Might have to find a pumpkin.......

I have converted a few people to that one Mike.  It is indeed a nice drop.

Love Cindy's pumpkin soup. Love the look of your crust. Looks like tiger bread.

Ports a bit rich for me. Penfolds Club for my budget.

I reckon that I have tried Hanwoods port/cab sav blend ?

Normally mix my own now.
