We have compromised on our next big trip and cancelled Tasmania for this year.  Will make it a summer/autumn trip.

Now looking at following the coastline south following the COG at Alstonville in May.

Below are possible major stops of around ten days each at this stage.  These will be in caravan parks and we expect to free camp at different places in between.

Wallaga Lake (NSW)
Malacoota (VIC)
Lakes Entrance (VIC)
Warnambool (VIC)
Edithburgh (SA)

On the way back to Brisbane a possible run north to Broken Hill then through Bourke, across to Dubbo.

We push off on Monday..29/2
Only for 6 weeks this time.
Have to be back home 4 times during the year..
Two were planned and 2 unplanned by us.
2017 will have to be a longer trip away.

Aart, we are now at the stage where it doesn't matter where we are in Australia it is only a short flight home of someone wants us.

Couple of years back Maggie jumped on a plane at Newcastle to come home for a long weekend.

It is easily done.

Derek, 10 days without a boat in some of those places could become a little frustrating.

A few more off the beaten track spots you might be interested in are Mystery Bay, Bithry Inlet and Marlo/Cape Conran. All now good roads in.

The S Gippsland highway from Sale takes you past some interesting places as well, and the detour around Melbourne for heading W is easy to follow.

Having spent a lot of time as a young bloke fishing the NSW S coast it is disappointing to find no free coastal camp spots anymore, nearly all now residential development.

Our this years getaway is April to Aug. WA goldfields. Smiley

You are not wrong there Michael.  Remember my first camping trip in Australia with Mum & Dad.  Headed to Tuggerah Lakes.  Just drove down a dirt track and pulled off to the side and set up camp.

Can't do that now.

Derek, you are not wrong about the central coast NSW.
We have just spent a week down there, the traffic is a bloody nightmare and with a school every kilometre the traffic moves slower than the proverbial tortoise.

Good to be back in the country where one can park right outside the supermarket to pick up the weeks supply (BWS) Grin

Will follow your travels and hopefully organise a cog or two when you venture into south oz.

If you haven't been to Silverton near Broken Hill, then check out penrose park. Plenty to see and do around there.

We are overdue for a trip there, so could be a good excuse.

Half your luck, Derek. I can't wait until I retire. 31 years and counting. That is if they keep the age at 67 and don't increase it anymore. Travel safely.

Its not burnt. Just really well done.
