So sorry to learn you will not be there, you will be greatly missed.

Don't feel to sorry Jilly.
At about that time I will be relaxing deep in the mountains of Kentucky near a small town called Pikeville. The weekend event Im attending involves eating tucker from what the yanks call dutch ovens. Im told Smokers are big there and smoked beef ribs, chicken and other things will be on offer as well, not to mention plenty of moonshine.
There has also been talk of what they call Tree Rat Pie being on the menu Shocked. Apparently squirrel is referred to as tree rat in places....think I might skirt around that one if offered any. Undecided

Two things here from a resident of this continent.

1) Dutch oven.  Dutch refers to people and culture of residents of the country called the Netherlands, thus, capital D.

2)Tree rat.  Checked our google, not being that familiar with Kentucky.  Yes. squirrel.  Very common quick food for pioneers of North America.  Common  rodent in many areas today.    My fav. video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGhZHlpSE6k   If offered same as food, yeah sure.  I used to run a rabbit snare trail.  Yes, I could prepare same to eat.  Betcha I`d try with onion and bacon, baked for sure, you know how.

Moonshine!!!! Now that is going to make your hair stand on end. Grin Grin

I have an old American Dutch Oven recipe book somewhere and it has a few recipes for squirrel.

Ok finally I have confirmation that the oval is ours for the 29th and 30th of April. It seems that the new caretaker wasn't up to the job and is moving on in a week or two.
Jeff ,the Vice President of the Show Society whom some of you have met , says we are booked in for those dates.
A new amenities block has been built at the north end of the oval, and if we want we can move to the area at that end of the oval which is closer to the water taps and electricity supply box.
Ill let you mob sort that that out as it wont effect me this year.

Countdown is on folks. 8 weeks to go from today.

We nearly didn't make it due to concerns by the Show Society over their liability insurance. However a chat with the Society President this week and all is good.

I have invited him to come down on Saturday for dinner.

Just a reminder of our COG Disclaimer for everyone
