If you look at the questions he has been asked, eBay de-listed it because he put a surcharge on if people paid by PayPal.

They don't like that  Smiley

I remember it, it was delisted because he wanted an additional 10% on the selling price if the buyer paid by paypal. The add asked for C.O.D.  The story was it had been given as a present for helping an old lady out for something,he thought it was quite old and may be worth something. Did some research and found it could be worth something. It was finally sold on ebay and the money given to the lady.

They did release a metal (spring handle) set and I would give my left one for the double version of that...

A furphy, is Australian slang for a rumour, or an erroneous or improbable story.  You would never get anything but the plain honest dinky-di truth here... I promise!!!!  Yup, hand on my heart, promise, true blue, uh-huh true dinks, dead set!!

Been a couple posted up here in the past Bob.

I still have two of the newer Chinese ones.  In fact I re-seasoned them a few weeks back when having a tidy up out the back.

We seem to have less and less fires these days so coals for a cast iron Jaffa’s iron are not common so I took them out of the motorhome and prefer our little aluminium Toastie one on the gas stove.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I believe they were Aussie made. The spring type handles are done differently to most of the similar Chinese handles. We have two of the old Furphy double jaffle irons and the the handles were all painted that gloss black; can't recall is the body of the irons were as well. We have had the one set of ours for a lot of years. Also the moulding of the animals has more detail in them when compared to the Chinese made ones. These jaffle irons are shown (price and photo) in the Furphy price lists from the latter part of the 1990's when Billmans were casting the Furphy cooking range.

You could be right there Jeff.  Would have been nice to see this one in the flesh and compare it.

Cheers
