Having received a 5kg bag of No Knead dark rye mix a couple of days ago, I was 'chomping at the bit' to try a loaf. So hasty in fact, that I completely forgot to add a generous amount of sunflower kernels and it ended up being just a fairly plain loaf.

Verdict: for a novice bread maker, I think it turned out okay, nice taste, a heavy bread (what I wanted) and I'm happy with the texture.

Keep them coming guys.  I love all this experimenting.

Reminds me of the old days when I first started working with Heat Beads when we were putting the charts together.

My re-discovered zeal for camp oven cooking has been inspired by the forum Derek and many thanks to you and others here for that inspiration.

The heat beads chart has really helped in getting things right without the failures that usually come about from pure guesswork - they will happen, I'm sure of that, but not so often.

Hi everyone, With all new research pointing to Dark Rye Bread as being best for healthy gut...  WinkI am wondering if anyone has a recipe which can be made whilst travelling? Something like that wonderful German black bread full of yummy seeds... Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It is not something I have ever cooked but a Google Search. Certainly brings up plenty of recipes
