Fire bans in all areas of SA will be finished by the end of April 2018.
Is anyone interested in a SA gathering in May?
The weekend of the 5th and 6th is out for me. But after that is ok for us.

G'day Brian
There is every chance we will be heading towards WA mid May.
Depending where and when, we could join in for the week end.

While we cannot promise at this time, Maggie and I arrive back in Melbourne from Tassie on 30 April so depending on how we are feeling, if the COG is in the first few weeks of May we just may swing that way on the way home.

Anything is possible.

I guess the main thing is to set a date and see how we all go.

Ok if I set the date for the 11, 12 and 13 of May 2018 who would be interested? Keeping in mind the 13th of May is Mothers Day. Or do we need to pick another date.

I am happy to put that date in the diary however as said, will depend on how we feel when we get back in to Melbourne and how quick we want to get home.

Not as yet Gromet. Just putting the feelers out to see how much interest there is.

Early days yet but some of the east NSW folk may be interested.  I know Poddy finds it hard to knock back a COG.

Going for a drive in the next few days to check out how clean the place I have in mind is. Would people be interested in coming to the Yorke Peninsula for a COG?

Just got back from The Gap near Balgowan. I think it will be to squeezy for us.
Do you think Gleeson's Landing will be to far to go? Great fishing. Smiley

But camping in SA facing the ocean is great but you are exposed to the elements.
There is always Towitta near Adelaide.
Or Cadell.
Or what about that farm stay Derek found up the river?

I must admit that a camp on the Victorian side of Adelaide would be better for us.

The place I stayed at was Benson Park.  You would need to call him and make the arrangements.

If you are interested the guys name is Ken and it is $15 a night.  http://wikicamps.com.au/site/193743/34188556

Well, I did say we will be heading to WA, its on the Eyre Peninsular not Yorke, but Perlubie beach would be a great COG spot with flush toilets, beach shelters and a coin donation. (byo firewood, but who needs a fire when heat beads are so easy)
May be just a little too distant from the East, but there are some other great locations once Port Augusta is behind.
Having travelled the Nullarbor 9 times we still really enjoy that journey. Smiley

Just had a look on Google Maps.  Would us non 4X4 people get in there Michael.  Looks very sandy.

I expect there would be a chance of a salmon or two off the beach there????

We should be OK to go to this cog.

Where ever it suits people is OK.

I would go anywhere between Black Cockatoo down south and Spear Creek bush caravan park up north.

Spear Creek would fit in with Mikel's travel as he would right drive past it.

Derek if you make the detor to SA with route would you take back home? Through Broken Hill?
Michael Eyre Peninsular is out of our reach for that weekend.
Spear Creek and Benson Park would be our limits.

We were talking about this last night and if we do, yes will be through Broken Hill.  Would most likely take a detour and catch up with Enis out at Silverton.

But then a different way home through western NSW.

Probably sound a little selfish here, but the Spear Creek campground looks very suited.
However, the decision should be made by those travelling longer distance plus return.
Ours is a one way loop, will be returning home via the top end road.  Smiley
We cunningly do it clockwise to get a head wind for the full distance.  Cool

Just talked to Bill at Spear Creek. On the 11, 12 and 13 of May he has a large group booked in.
But we can have an area for ourselves in a bush camping area. It has 5 powered sites as well as some unpowered sites.
It has a flushing toilet and the showers are 30 mt. away.
Two fire rings are also in that area.
$30 powered and $28 seniors powder. Unpowered is $25.
Firewood is $10 bag aud no wood collecting on the property.

Doesnt matter where you go......it wont agree with everyone...

I would vote for Towitta.....mainly cause I dont have to take a 1.5hr drive through Adelaide just to get the other side......before the trip north

plus a Rick knows theres big acreage to spread out no power or showers though

I am easy with either place  just means  a different departure  time for me to get there at 7am   Grin
Depending on weather  I'll either swag it again so i can bring lots of wood or van it with limited wood   but either way I'll be there

Last time I was at Towitta...you hired the whole area..and split the cost between everyone....you dont have other people drive in and park
