hi guys. My name is Kim my husband is Kevin, we love caravanning, but just recently done off the grid camping and looooved it. only yesterday we purchased  a cast iron camp oven, and I am a little nervous about how we go about using it, I came across this fantastic site and I cannot wait to start experimenting. I have noticed when I have read up about the camp ovens, most of them had little legs, but mine doesn't. Does that make any difference at all?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The basis of the legs is that they do hold your oven up above the coals to prevent the coals from smothering and going out.

Camp ovens without legs however are pretty common and what a lot of people do is use a trivet to hold them up.

You can also use stones, pavers or even bricks or anything actually.

I use one of these that you can pick up in most camping shops.
