Dinner tonight.

Threw all the veggies in I could find in the fridge which wasn’t much. Cup of stock and a cup of red wine and a big spoon of chilli powder.

The dumplings had thyme to flavour them.  They were steamed on top of the stew

How did you get the dumplings to "fluff " up like that?

I am not sure if I am doing anything special as that is how my dumplings always are.

I used 2 cups SR Flour, 2 big tablespoons of butter, pinch of salt and some milk.

Stir in salt to the flour then rub the butter into it until it resembles breadcrumbs.  Stir in milk a little at a time until you have a sticky wettish dough.  Drop spoonfuls on top of the stew and let steam for 15 minutes.

Oh, I also added some dried thyme to these as well.  Just a sprinkle into the dry flour.
