Like a lot of people getting up in age I have developed over a number of years I quite severe reflux.

Controlled by medication these days however I do have to watch still what I eat and drink.  My doctor is constantly telling me I shouldn’t drink alcohol and those attending our COG’s would know one or two drinks is generally my limit and certainly not every night.

Recently have noticed adverts on TV and the Internet for a new alcohol free beer called Carlton Zero with the zero being no alcohol.  Available for purchase in Supermarkets.

Was walking through Wollies a couple of days ago and there it was so thought I would give it a go.

It is $7.00 for a four pack.

Well the taste test proved it to be a very nice beer and poured into a glass it developed a good head.

Will see how the tummy goes.

I will get some of that next time we are shopping as I can not drink much beer now like I use to and I suppose being 80 in a couple of weeks might have something to do with that also

Will have to try as I am off alcohol for the month due to a series of heart and gut test. As long as the taste is there it could be the drink of choice for a while.

12 months ago the doc said I may have to go on injections to control my diabetes if I couldn’t lower them.

I knuckled down and was a lot stricter with my diet to get back on track.

Birrell has been around for 40 yrs or so. I think it replaced Coopers DB beer.

It tasted revolting back then, but has a pretty good taste now. It is stocked in all SA supermarkets along with a couple of German zero/ultralight beers.

I tried a non alcoholic beer from one of the big supermarkets many years ago when my wife and myself went out to a party and I was designated driver, I can't remember what brand it was, but it was pretty bad. Will have to check this out as I am currently trying to quit drinking myself and do enjoy most of Carlton's beers

Wouldn’t it be the sugar content that would be of concern to someone with diabetes???
