Title: Old Camp Ovens
Post by Derek Bullock on Jun 13th, 2006 at 6:40pm

I am looking for old camp ovens.  Also looking for newer Furphy Camp Ovens with the Millmeran Camp Oven Festival cast into the lid.

Willing to pay reasonable prices including freight.

Got all excited when I saw an old oven (and tripod) advertised on eBay today, starting price $75 then when I read the fine print it has a crack in the lid.  Only really any good for display.
Derek, like you I am always on the lookout for old ovens, I bid against you for that 15" you recently bought.  Vintage ovens are scarce and becoming more so but thats only telling you something you already know. If the freight was'nt so high I would seriously think about buying O/s as I see some very desirably old ovens advertised on the net. Rob

Did you.  I put a bid of $250 on that and got it for $204. Been after a 15 inch for years.  Do you know it was still in it's original box and she told me it had only been used a few times.

I think you and I are gonna be in opposition for future bids. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hehheh Derek, you got that right, I have bought two nice ovens from sources other than eBay or antique shops but if I tell you where I'll have to kill you.
A lot of it is in the thrill of the chase, I've been into hundreds of "Old Wares" shops without success, like me you'll just have to keep looking, they're out there somewhere. Poddy Dodger ;D

PD

That current one on eBay is 15 years old and has no brand marked on it.  8-)

Hi derick, I have an old camp oven made by Falkirk that I would be willing to sell at a fair price, it is quite large measuring on the long side @365mm x 270mm on the short side. There is one problem with it that being someone has used it as pot plant holder at some stage and it has 4 small size holes in its base. These could easily be proffessionally welded for a minor amount and you would have a great pot once again. It also has no lid but considering its size I dont see this being to big a problem anyway if your interested or anyone else for that matter you can email me at markmaclean60@hotmail.com
