Title: Johnny Cakes
Post by Furphyslinger on Sep 2nd, 2006 at 5:49pm
This one is great when eaten hot out of the camp oven

1 cup self raising flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
enough water to make a workable dough
Mix well roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into quarters
put a few tablespoons fat- marg or butter into the warm camp oven and when it is boiling drop in the cakes and cook for 8 to 10 minutes

Split open while hot and eat with unlimited butter

Cheers Furphy

IMO, NO, NO, NO,  Johnny Cakes are made with corn meal!!!!

At least in the North American tradition they are.  Sorry, no time to hunt up a recipe, but...

:)
