Title: Potato Pie
Post by Furphyslinger on Sep 3rd, 2006 at 10:51am
All here is a tried and true recipe that has been used as a means to use up all of your left overs

ingredients can be whatever is available I have used left over cooked meat or you can use the Rabbit stew recipe you just have to make sure that the filler is pre cooked.

Boil up a good supply of spuds say 8 to 10 medium to large spuds and mash them after draining.
When mashing add 2 raw eggs and a desertspoon of butter or marg. Cut up a couple of onions and add them raw to the spuds.

Place pre cooked ingreients into the camp oven and then add mashed potato spreading it over the top of the fill until the potato completly covers the ingredients.

Place the camp oven on a bed of coals and add coals to the lid cook for 20 to 30 minutes adding coals if needed.

cooked when the potato turns crispy and golden brown

great way to use up all of your left overs I usually use left over mutton leg or beef roast etc

Enjoy

Hi Lk

12" oven is best and the becomes the crust of the pie you can add cheese - bacon - to the potato or just experiment with whatever favours you enjoy the great thing about this recipe is that you just raid the fridge for whatever leftocers you can find or you can start from scratch with any cooked ingredients I usually cook mince or steak and kidney with fresh vegies with a sauce or gravy base best thing is just let your head go and you will find that it will become a favorite with all

Cheers Furphy
