Title: Fire Bans
Post by Derek Bullock on Dec 14th, 2006 at 5:34pm

Are the current weather patterns and fire bans annoying as many as myself.  Seems like ages ago that I was able to get the camp oven going.

Many campers, if they are game to go camping, over Christmas are going to miss out on camp oven Christmas dinners.

Sigh :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Not only fire bans Derek, its getting harder and harder to have a camp fire with most National Parks having signs banning solid fuel fires, the gathering of firewood, fires outside of fire places etc etc,. The buggers are taking the fun out of everything.

Sheesh, global warming!!!  Blame it on global warming.  Everyone here does!

Ye'll have to get up off the deck to that table Derek & PD!  Beats being stuck with using gas!

Besides which they say that if you cook on the ground, a lot of your coals are actually heating the ground, not your food!

It's international.  Same problem in the part of USA I live in.  It's winter now and you can fill yer boots.  But this summer we had a total fire ban.  Lasted forever.  I HATE cooking on gas when we are camping in the bush.
Ice storms can knock out power for days and even weeks,  and in freezing temps it ain't no fun  -  but the camp oven sure comes into it's own in such circumstances

Hello, JtB, when I went to Labrador last summer, I found that they regularly have a fire ban for anything down on the ground.  But I asked the Provincial fire people about using a portable barbeque outfit, it was fine.

I've posted my elcheapo Canadian Tire  purchase in Camp Oven Equipment, I think.
