Title: Re: cooking with gas Post by Derek Bullock on Mar 10th, 2007 at 8:35am I am not sure on that as generally you need to have heat on top as well as on the bottom. In fact heat on the top and not on the bottom is good for a roast. The Camp Oven Mate circulates the heat around the camp oven and also directs it down on top of the oven as well. What we have found works even better with the Camp Oven Mate is to remove the lid from the camp oven 20 to 30 minutes before cooking is finished. This will give more heat from the top and is great for browning vegies. The Hillbilly camp oven has a gas attachment that sits on top of the oven and directs the heat down. So really I dont know, but give it a go and see. Get a cheap cut of meat and try it out. Something like lamb belly flap. Derek |
