Title: G'day from a new member /me

Hi all,
I just found your fabulous forum and I/we, are wrapped. My wife and I want to travel around Oz in the near future and enjoy lots of camping along the way. We do have one handicap that we bought last year. We have a beautiful German Shepherd dog that we cant leave at home or a kennel. She is so attached to me that when I go to town, she refuses to eat or drink untill I return. She is a wonderful companion and I am training her to gain the CD certificate. The major part of her training however will be as a tracker dog. She is showing such a huge potential for this work that I cant refuse her to do it. She is my third GS dog and wont be my last (I hope).
I am now searching for all info available on places we can stay that will accept a dog. Any help in this will be most appreciated. She also loves coming out in our tinnie (a 4.75m Bluefin) and gets very excited at the other boats and when the fish come aboard. I also have a problem with her in the boat. If I leave her (even with my wife) in the boat while I toss a net in for bait from the bank, she becomes hysterical. She thinks I am in danger or that she is missing out on something. She does have a wonderful temperment and is an absolute joy to travel with.
Looking forward to sharing our adventures with you and especialy the camp cooking. We have 26 acres of forest that we live in and we cook as often as possible with our dutch oven amongest the trees. The best wood for cooking with is the Iron Bark that has fallen on the ground. The coals are so hot and the smoke is the best aroma ever. It also induces the most wonderful of flavours into the cooking tucker.

Hi Cody

Welcome to COCIA.  There are several books around on camping with dogs.  One good one is called 'Bush Camping With Dogs'.  Below is a quote about it.  Last time I saw it was around $35.  Should be able to pick it up at a good bookstore or online at http://www.ontheroad.com.au/

Cheers

Derek
