Title: Cooking for 20! Post by porkypom on Sep 24th, 2007 at 3:08pm
HI all, I need a little help..... I thought I'd start up 'ManCamp' this year for a few friends to escape their wifes and kids, this small gathering has turned into a 20 strong bush bash! I stupidly offered to cook for the weekend, dinner for 8 I thought, no problem, but bloody 20!
We have a kitty of $800 3x14" Camp ovens, 2 x hotplates and 20 large belly's to feed. Can anyone suggest 2 easy tasty evening meals, and maybe an idea for brecky other than snags. I thought maybe for lunch we could have 'Pig in a Mine Shaft' Use a Apple corer to take the middle of a potato out then ram a snag in the hole and bake! Thanks! |

Hi Porkypom and welcome to the site.
If you have three 14" ovens I would do a roast. Get a large blade and cook it slowly in one oven and spuds, pumpkin and carrots in the other two. For the second night I would do a big stew. Big pot of scrambled egg with bacon for brekkies. All easy things to cook. Interested in what others have to say. |

How about a big pot of spagghetti bolognaise, spaghetti in one, mince in the other, to easy. any left overs would be sorted out on toast in the morning.
OR A couple of big corned beefs and a heap of boiled spuds and pumpkin etc... Cheers Jono |

Bake two (2) or three(3) hams (shoulder or leg ) for about 1 hour in a medium hot camp oven, glaze with marmalade and crushed macadamia nut topping, let rest for fifteen minutes, serve with roast vegetables or salad. and mustard sauce. :P
Ham, poached eggs, grilled tomato and mushrooms on toast for breakfast. No one will go camping without you. ;D Murray |
