Hi Shane, hope you have some photos of your set up and no doubt your own favourites to tell us about.  Its interesting in here that we all cook for various quantities of people.

Bethanga, had to look it up, but jeez Shane you're within easy driving distance of where a lot of cast iron ovens are born and you haven't got any !!!
We camped for the night on top of the lookout at Tallangatta a while back on our way back to NSW via the Snowy Mountains.

G'Day Shane,  some of of here are here for the CO talk and to learn about Oz, because we don't live there.

I'm 1/2 a world away, almost out on the Atlantic Ocean.  In our summer we're 12.5 hours different.  It doesn't matter where to are to one afflicted with castironitis.

G'day Shane, and welcome from me too.

Hope (actually know you will ) find some good hints and recipes for your Hillbilly C/O's.

In return, reckon we might get a hint or two on spit cooking? :P

Know its not the real C/O thing, but I reckon its close enough to it. Especially if you cook the "spudsnpunkinncarrotswhatever" in the C/O with the sheep/pig on the spit. ;)

My best experience with a spit (eatn, not cookn!) was at Lightning Ridge when a local cop and an ambo. were getting a send off at the pistol club. They had FIVE huge pigs (feral!) on a long length of pipe over mulga coals with sheets of gal. behind as a windbreak.
There were over 250 people there, we got back to our camp well after the sun came up.
Won't talk about the kegs and red wine, but took the day orf anyway. :)

thanks for everyone saying hello. when i get better at this i will send photo's of my gear.I spoke to Derek today about a camp oven cook off  in Bethanga.Would really like some ideas to get it started.  Being a old gold ming town and its proximity to alb/wod should get a lot of intrest. Other old towns in the area don't have anything like this and advertise as gold mining towns.

Hey There Shane,
You'll really enjoy this site. They're a rough mob & pretty uncouth (that should get a bite) but you won't find a better mob anywhere. I struggle to get much time in front of the monitor so it's taking a long time time getting though the many & varied topics. You'll find an absolute wealth of information here & have a lot of laughs along the way.
Hooroo for now [smiley=1.gif]
