Soot,
I had not heard of this. I know you all have had lots more rain this year and that much of Oz has needed it. I have seen floods that took people's homes, but I have not had that experience. The closest I came to it was late September, 2005. Our work had set up meetings 50 miles from my usual workplace. It was raining heavily as it had been for more than 24 hours. The others to go passed me the keys to the employer's van and said: "You drive." Ok, fine. We go to our meetings and were about an hour into them when the word came to us, "If you want to get out of town, go now. If you don't and you need a place to sleep, we'll find it for you." Of course, I said: "My dogs, I'm going." One of us had a cell phone. She called the IT van, which was on the other side of this bridge. On the bridge approaches water was above floor level on our van, but we got through with none coming in Past the bridge with the IT van Dr. Bob took us out of town by the highest route and from there to the Trans Canada Highway. Dr. Bob also knowing something of my driving experience and knowing the roads better than me gave me one challenge drive. About 30 homes were lost with those rains. The pictures were taken well before the peak by the sister of one other people who was with us. One of her sisters also lost her home. Now, Soot, I know there is no comparison, but it is a flood story. Where are you all now? What next? What do you do to 'rebuild your lives'. & how is DWs wrist? :) |

Soot, I am a relatively newie on this forum and have just been away for about three weeks. I can't remember if you were posting in the time I have been a member but I am sorry to hear of your losses. I guess when people go missing from forums it is presumed that they have gone on holiday or have a computer breakdown. I hope your getting some support from the government and insurance companies.
