Title: Camp Chef CO's Post by skiproosel on Mar 3rd, 2008 at 10:17pm
G'day trusted Kemo Sabe's,
I have just seen an add for Camp Chef CO's at Anaconda camping stores and all of their Camp Chef Ovens 10,12 & 14 (just checked , griddles as well) are 30% off until the 9th March. By my figuring the prices would be as follows 10" = $49.00ish 12" = $63.00ish 14" = $77.00ish I don't think you'll buy them any better than that folks so go get 'em. By the way they are the deluxe ovens-see happy snap below. All the best Skip |

A good friend of mine has several Camp Chef ovens and swears they are as good as Lodge. At the prices you quote Skip they are a very good buy.

I actually prefer Camp Chef to Lodge.
But the logic of all the prices is this. The USA has over 300 million population. Canada over 33 million. Oz between 19 & 20 million. How can a Chinese Furphy compete with a percentage of the US population. Both Camp Chef and Lodge can be sold for less than a Furphy or any other Aussie made oven. Pity, but on this deal Julie can't compete. :-/ |

Actually, LK, we have lower prices than those right now! :P
To celebrate the grand opening of Dutch Oven University, we have all our Dutch Ovens (Camp ovens to you folks here) and accessories ON SALE! My prices on those Deluxe ovens are: 6 Qt. (10") Oven Regular Price: $49.99 Sale Price: $39.99 9-1/3 Qt. (12") Oven Regular Price: $59.99 Sale Price: $47.99 12 Qt. (14") Oven Regular Price: $75.99 Sale Price: $60.79 The only issue would be shipping, as they are heavy ovens! :( Julie |

Hi Julie,
I would love to deal with you & purchase them from you , believe me I looked . But when the dollar rate is converted and the astronomical shipping charges are taken into account it is just not practical to do so :( but I am interested in bringing in some CO conditioner that we can't get here. :) All the best Skiproosel |

Skip makes my point for me. Those who bulk buy the Camp Chef are no doubt making a purchase with arrangements to ship from the foundry, which we all know is on that side of the Pacific.
BTW that's the only reason Lodge has more adherents than Camp Chef. There will always be those who want ovens made at home. The Lodge Foundry was set up in an earlier time. Camp Chef had to go off shore to be competitive. I other brands of now defunct foundries are much prized, but their not all drawing the big prices that your Metters, Albion, etc. are drawing on ebay down there. & I don't know if you all know it or not, but shipping in Oz is tons less than shipping over here, just on this continent. Your government is still making policies to suit a much spread out population. Neither of our governments are. 8-) |

It's interesting LK, postage from the west coast of Oz to the east coast is about half of the other way ! Reason being that not a lot of freight is coming that way so trucks etc are travelling nearly empty.
I have a mate who drives a B Double long distance and when he does a trip to the west he waits for another truck from that company and one carries the other back east to halve the fuel bill, sorry wandering off the subject. Back to those ovens, looks like I'll have to make a trip to Parramatta Rd and get one or two ! pd |

Skiproosel, don't believe what our shipping calculator comes up with! It's horribly wrong when it comes to overseas shipping. For example, we have a brass coupler that will allow you to refill a 1 lb. Coleman propane tank for $19.99. The calculator comes up with a charge of $30-some U.S. dollars. I can actually ship those for $11.00 (USD), (I can even ship TWO of them for that same shipping cost) which makes it WAY more reasonable. We sell a TON of them overseas. In fact, it was an Aussie from another Aussie forum that found the company here in the states, right next to us (OK, well there's a big lake in the way), in Michigan, and asked me to get them in the store. Since then, we've sold literally hundreds of them, and over 70% of them have been overseas. Anyway, if you're interested in anything on our website, sent me a note and I'll be happy to calculate shipping for you! Julie |

Has anyone picked up some of these CO's yet? I have 4 now and reckon they are the grouse. The finish is not in the same class as the lodge (Just my opinion) and the seasoning is not as good. However in saying that I think they cook every bit as good and look better.

Bugga, I don't think I am going to be able to make it for the sale as I'm going away for the weekend.
I want the 12 and 10 as I already have the 14. Never mind. |

Ring 'em up and pay by card Derek ;), they will put them in the lay-by room until you get a chance to pick them up and you get 'em for a song. The 12" is a cracker mate.

Good- Well you let me know then :)
I have two of their skillets 12" round & 12" square They are really very good I love chicken breasts done on these with fresh lime juice & cracked black pepper poured over. Better still mix up a marinade and inject it directly into the chicken or whatever have you on to a searing hot skillet. This is what I use! Regards Skip IMG_1196_Small.JPG (80 KB | ) |
