What do others members find as the ideal C/O size...I use a 12" camp oven but it has its limits.  I would think for my self a 16" would be ideal..say cooking a full roast and placing vegetables around at the appropriate time taking advantage of oven juices. Taking into account the number of people one has to cook for at the time, the two ovens should cover just about any situation. Your thoughts.

You are right Muzz.  Depends on how many you are cooking for.

My 15" Furphy is a great size for a family roast and all the Veggies.  Have a 14" Camp Chef that is not as deep as the Furphy and am keen to give that a go.

Blasted things are getting pretty heavy at that size though  ;D ;D

Weight is a problem in the bigger ovens and if moving camp frequently
can become quite a chore to pack and carry. But we chose to use these things.

               Good question that. I know this is two bites of the cherry but I find when I do a roast for my crew I find 2 x 12" ovens do the trick. I stack 'em and find that I get better roast veggies when done in their own oven.

The no. of people you are serving has to be the key.  I find for just the wife and I that I am using my 8 and 10 in. more than some of the bigger one.

I couldn't survive with out my 15"er.
I'm with you guys on doing the veg in a seperate oven, some times two.
I don't like to over fill my ovens, I find it makes veges go soggy when there is not enough air circulation & it is hard to get things to brown up.
So if I'm cooking at home for 2 plus a ruggy it is mostly the 10" & 12"

but when we have a few more eaters (15 or more) we usually have 2 x 15" ovens for meat, 2-3 x 12" ovens for veg & a tata bake, some times use one ore more 10" ovens for soft veg, my oval oven for bread & re-use a 12" for a desert.
as you can imagine, this takes one hell of a fire too!!

It often comes down to what size tin or pan I want to use too, for example, a 12" pizza needs the 15"oven, where as my pie tin which I use for potato bakes as well, fits nicely in the 12" oven.

I think your right Muzz, a 15" plus a 12" for back up is right on the money.
I some times get people asking me "what size should I buy" & I always say GO BIG!!!!
you can always cook a small roast in a big oven but not visa versa.
it's often the height which restricts you too, don't know how some of our O/S compatriates handle using those shallow ones ;D :D ;) ;D

Wouldn't even attempt it with that many ovens Derek, I would spend all my time lighting & re-lighting them, besides when you have a group like that is'nt it about standing around the fire with a cold beer & talk'n s##t while you enjoy the smells coming off them?? ;D ;D ;D
