George They are only available at Anaconda Stores in Oz. http://www.anaconda.com.au/ They had 20% off store wide last week and do this regularly. Check the website for your nearest or you can order by phone. I ordered mine by phone when the discount was offered a while back and they held them until I picked up. Derek |

Really good ovens too PD. These are what I use when I go away camping or travelling. I reckon if they break that's not too bad because they are cheap enough.
I have made a box to house my three ovens Regards Skip |

Apart from the ovens Jono that's a neat carrying box, I did something the same for my COs and another one to carry all my cooking ingredients, knives, tongs, lid lifters, plonk and stuff all us camp cooks need !!!!

I emailed annaconda regarding a Lewis & Clark Camp Chef 12" camp oven's in stock? the one with the canoe on the lid.
REPLY "Unfortunately in the size you are looking for we only have one style and it does not have the canoe on the lid. I am not sure where you will find this, as we can not order this product in the different lid types. So am at a loss as to where they are available Soot :-/ |

Hey Soot, confused or what.
Funny they had em' on Thursday! Maybe it's a simple misunderstanding or they misread, I would email again. Cheers Jono |

Kev I got Jono's and mine from the Everton Park store on Thursday. 'Theyoungfella' also got a 12" CO I am sure the picture is size specific to the CO. If you send a PM to Theyoungfella he may be able to confirm. There was only 1 x 10" and 1 x 14" left at Everton Park. We pushed a trolley full of Lewis and Clarks Aart |

If you are happy to wait till Anaconda have a 20% off sale, I'll get them for you and mail them up. Same as I did for Jono. Just have to wait a while mate. 20% off and mailed to Rocky was cheaper than the regular price pickup at Everton Park Aart |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by Derek on Jul 31st, 2008 at 5:48pm
The Underwood Store today had both the 12" and 14" with the Canoe on them.
Well that was the photo on the box. |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by skiproosel on Jul 31st, 2008 at 7:59pm
The 12" oven is the one with the Canoe on the lid. I've bought a few of them as presents. The boxes do not indicate what's on the oven in that particular box.

Am having trouble with access to their site and catalog Will wait for the specials if you would be kind enough tho I could order myself. Not sure if I need to get the box with a canoe on it or one with out and a canoe on the lid so confused by recent posts :-? Kev |

Sooty the boxes are all the same they show an oven with a canoe on the lid. The 10" & 14" version do not have the canoe on the lid. Only the 12" oven has the canoe I hope this helps.
PS. The 10" has a Squaw & Baby on the lid & the 14" has an explorer on the lid Regards Skip |

The oven lids say Lewis & Clark.
How well is the Lewis & Clark expedition known down there? Here it was MEGA, MEGA big. & how about the Louisiana Purchase? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_and_Clark_Expedition#Louisiana_Purchase_and_a_western_expedition & in more detail. http://www.pbs.org/lewisandclark/ The Louisiana Purchase had really doubled the size of the US. That's the point of the decoration on the lid. :-/ |

In the N. Am. case Sacagawea was added to the expedition at the request of her husband.
No, unrequited love there. But you guys should try persuading Camp Chef to make lids suited to Aussie pioneering events. :-/ |

LK, do you really think Camp Chef would make up a special casting for a very small market ?? I suppose you never know unless you ask.
I rang Anaconda in Sydney yesterday, they have the Lewis and Clark ovens..... looks like a small trip coming up. pd |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by Little_Kopit on Aug 2nd, 2008 at 7:56am
Get all the outfits that come up with special 'tourist attracting festivals', ie. Millmerran, etc. together to ask for a or two suitable 'events' lids.
After all Camp Chef makes ovens for Cabellas, Sportmans Warehouse. Lodge did a special oven for Japan (JDOS). You don't get until you ask........ 8-) |

After numerous emails I received this reply from Anaconda Logan today
"Hi Kev The postage will be $5.95 per item The price of the camp chef 12” is $89.95 and the set is $99.95. Total price is $201.80 Payment can be made my credit card with any of our friendly staff. Thanks Ben Rieson Camp and Hike Dept. Anaconda Logan 3525 pacific hwy Slacks creek 32992244" Think I will go with this deal with the postage is so cheap and the saving on the set offsets the 12" price. Aart quoted freight to Rocky at $45.00 so $11.90 to Mackay 400k north is cheap. I must add that a couple of stores replied either by email or phone to say that they had the 12" but not with a canoe lid, good service me thinks. Kev |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by TBF on Aug 7th, 2008 at 9:56pm
Hey Kev
Thats a good price as a package mate. That postage is very cheap. They must have an average price per item and then suffer any excess rates that happen to occur. Aart |
|
Title: Re: New Babies Post by sooty on Aug 8th, 2008 at 8:26pm
Yes Aart, it would cost more than $5.95 to buy a CD postpack and post it to there.
Haven't ordered yet as no management approval forthcoming. I hold the ACE as my 55th is coming up and have some bargaining power for the first time in my married life {28.5 years} ;D After loosing all but one cheap CO in the Feb floods I think I will win Maybe Soot |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by Carolyn™ on Aug 9th, 2008 at 5:46am
We were very pleased with their postage service. As I had two large boxes, the girl I spoke with checked it all out and came back to me with that it would have to come seperately but she would reduce the postage (registered) to $10 for the two. I think I ordered on the Thursday and they arrived Monday arvo by the po.

Hi Mick, In the aftermath of the Flood here in Feb we had numerous relatives and friends etc help us clean up and pack stuff away. To say if was a madhouse at the time is an understatement. Months later we are still getting people bringing things back that they took home to clean up for us. Still waiting for the 2 boxes of CD's , 300 odd CD's to appear and my old wooden CO box with a 12 " Furphy and a 14" old unmarked CO that my Dad had for 20 years and gave me in 1978. I think but am not sure if someone said I will take these and clean them up for you or they were thrown out by mistake by one of our helpers who probably thought they were rubbish :'( :'( :'( I have given up hope of ever getting these back so I am looking to replace them. >:( :( Kev |

Title: Re: New Babies Post by poddy dodger on Aug 13th, 2008 at 8:59pm
Just thinking Sooty, if you ever came across your ovens again would you recognise them ?
I have put tags on my pots with s/s wire but they would be easy to remove with a pair of sidecutters. Looking at one of my second hand pots a couple of days ago I noticed it has three file nicks in the rim of the lid and on one leg of the pot, not so easy to remove or explain away and not very noticeable unless you're looking for them, just a thought. pd |
|
Title: Re: New Babies Post by sooty on Aug 14th, 2008 at 8:04pm
PD, I probably not recognize them tho I am sure the smell of the last meal I cooked in the Furph would, my garlic curried sausages leave a smell never forgotten in more ways than one { more so next day}
I asked Dad last night where he got the old unmarked oven, He is a bit vauge as he had a stroke 3 weeks ago. He says his Dad had it on the Cobb and Co run from Surat to St George in the 1940's :' I am devastated having lost this priceless piece if this info is correct., although the lack of maker markings has me confused if it was as old as he claims :'( Have always marked my tools with special file marks so can't see why it won't work for CI Kev |

Have received my order from Anaconda at Logan, but am disappointed.
Despite the invoice quoting "12" with Canoe on lid" I got the 14" with DO14 on the box. The quoted price was also dearer. Rang them and it depends on who you speak to as to how they measure them. Am now waiting for Ben to return from holidays to sort it out, seems no 12" now available despite being assured they were in stock when I ordered. Apart from this I am happy with the Muley set Kev |

Had a small rump roast with spuds, pumpkin, carrot and onion to cook along with snow peas in alfoil Put veges minus snow peas in after meat was in for 45 min on trivet Meat was perfect but veges soggy, know now to do veg in seperate co with lid askew.
