Title: NOW IS THE TIME - USING OP BUNDY FOR XMAS
Post by Carolyn™ on Sep 4th, 2008 at 8:37am
I have just prepared mine in readiness for the December Party Season.  Don't say YUK about the fruit used it is very much in the background, mostly just a moist fruity RUM flavour.  If you don't like rum flavour that is a different matter dont even read further.

You could take them camping in the jar and using a small CO gently melt the chocolate to finish them for serving.

This was given to me by a Latvian workmate many years ago and really packs a punch with good coffee at the end of a meal.

I have used 2 packets of good quality pitted prunes
1/2 bottle of OP BUNDYS RUM it must be OP

Place prunes in a clean glass jar cover with OP Rum and put in fridge for at least 6 weeks.

Check from time to time as the rum does absorb into the fruit and top up if necessary.

After 6 weeks or more drain - you can use the juice on ice cream or drink it - there usually isnt much.

Dip in compound chocolate (the lady who gave me the recipe said she always used the no frills cooking chocolate with a good result) or better quality chocolate with about 1 oz of copha added.

Store in refridgerator.

Give a drink and drive warning to anyone eating them. :D

Not for the kiddies.

Carolyn

Reads like a cross between and after dinner mint and a laxative.  ;D
I like prunes, rum and chocolate.
So why not put them together..

Try soaking sultanas in brandy that is a nice treat.
Same goes for dried apricots.

Thanks Carolyn, I might do a small batch of them for x-mas. I reckon if I dehydrate 'em a bit they could double as firestarters. How cool would that be , eating the firestarters he He He

Regards Skip :)

Unless your Bundy comes cheaper than mine I dont think I would waste them as a firestarter Skip, make sure you tell people what they are made of, they usually soon want to try one when the "prune eaters" come back for more and their eyes start rolling  :D

They arent for everyone and unless I share them outside the house I am walking around very happy for quite a few days snacking on them  :D
