Title: Hope I don't burn everything Post by valleygxl120 on Sep 15th, 2008 at 9:46pm
g'day everyone. have always wondered how good it would be to have a knowledge of cooking in the great outdoors. Bought a camper trailer and 4wd this year and my wife and I are looking to getting out there and start enjoying the great country we live in ;D

G'day valleygxl
Sounds like you're about to enjoy the good times. Hope ya got a Nissan mate. Cos there's a lot of Toyotas out there that'll need your assistance. This is the place to learn about cast iron and cooking. Aart |

:)Thanks for the welcome everyone. hey TBF without getting to far off the track with the 4wd jokes just want you to know, there is a recovery hook on most Toyotas and a note! "attatch buggered Nissans here". (only Joking)
Only came across this site last night and need to spend some time to see what its all about. I bought a camp oven a couple of weeks ago and need to clean the wax off it and season it. All looks like fun from there on. Looking forward to getting my wife [smiley=chef.gif] involved as she loves cooking and has some great recipes ;) |

Astroboy had his Nissan there. They are both great 4Bs.. They both have their problems. They both have their admirers. I'm just glad we got one of them. valleygxl120, I gather from that you own a Prado? The latest 3litre TD is better than the patrol..now there is a concession. ;) cheers Aart |

Cheers TBF your right, its a 2003 Prado but mines the 3 litre T/D before the new D4D diesel. Good old reliable tech. They all pretty good these days as long as their maintained. Certainly looking forward to getting out there and using it. [smiley=tank.gif]

I'm with you Aart, Go the Nissan, have just rebuilt a 2.5 diesel motor for a 1986 Navara that I paid $500 for. Not a fan of the modern plastic Prado, Hilux, Navara poser units. Older is better both in vehicles and ladies ;D Kev |

[smiley=cool.gif]you won't get an argument about older tech with me, I ride older dirt bikes and have a great time, it cheap as well. I guess its like camp oven cooking, a tried and proven method and still plenty to learn.
(just not sure about the nissan though - go Toyota :P) |

Welcome valleygxl. I think what they are trying to say is there's a fine line between "hobby" and "obsession" and that may apply here. ;) From a died in the wool Jeep person (flame suit on).
Cast iron stuff can really getya sucked in.... insert eBay warning here.... :D |

g,day billybushcook
Ive got a 1978 YZ250E, 1980 YZ 125G and a Bultaco 1975 Matador all good fun. I guess its getting a bit off track seeing as this is a camp oven cooking forum, but what the heck this is set a side for introductions. surely everone doesn't stand around looking at cast iron pots all day. Variey is the spice of life. [smiley=gunsmilie.gif] |
