Title: Australian Camp Ovens Post by Ember on Sep 30th, 2008 at 9:40pm
Hi Folks. Think I got of that thing that everyone seems to have.. CAST IRON FEVER. Love the look of TBF's new baby. Being the new kid on the block I am putting a list together of all the different names of Australian made Camp Ovens. Seems there must be quite a few. Can anyone enlighten me ?
By the way I have turned out a couple of dampers and a baked dinner which only cause me to want more and torment the neighbours with the cooking smell !!! EMBER |

Welcome to the forum Ember,
I can't help with all of the Australian names as I am from North America, however, Lodge, Maca, & Camp Chef are from the USA. So don't let anyone fool you that they are Australian. :) The fever that you are experencing is known by many names: Castironitus & Ferric Fixation Disorder are just a couple of them. In my experence it cannot be cured, but a regular application of buying cast iron will keep it at a manageable level. There are times that you may experence a severe outbreak when you find a place that is having a sale on cast iron. So please be careful not to infect others with it. :D Best, Duncan |

Welcome Ember
I am by no means a guru on camp ovens... but I do likes 'em. My Metters 10" is special because it is an Australian CO. They don't make them anymore.. Enjoy your time on the forum.. Don't forget to take photos of the meals you make and then post them.. Aart |
