Hi Sooty,
I have had ovens do that to me too and the reason I found was a bit of rust remained, the seasoning will not take to the rust. I can't really see ,but if you have any chunks of rust on the pot they will need to be chipped away carefully with a screwdriver or the like. Another option would be the Electrolysis bath as detailed on this forum. See if there are any other comments Sooty and we can take it from there. It can be fixed!!! :) All the best Skip |

Thanks Skip, where the seasoning has taken it is great, thought of a quick diluted acid bath after another cleanup
Robbo did a great job on the handle hey, you wouldn't pick it as not original. I used a spray can of Quality olive oil but rubbed in in before seasoning Dissapointing after all the effort Kev |

Get it as hot as you can in the BBQ first Sooty about 20mins. It will burn off the seasoning and when cool really give it some with the wire brush & scourer. Quite simply seasoning will not take to any type of rusty surface.
Good Luck with it Sooty. Failing that we'll try at Hedlow mate! Regards Skip :) |

Havent gone anywhere Sooty. Mum always taught me if you dont have anything sensible to say, keep your mouth shut. Fell on deaf ears I guess. Got back from work this evening. Made one of those handles for my little Albion too, turned out alright but not quite as good as yours I think. Must have fluked yours but it still looks good. Robbo |
