Hi Kate and welcome back.
I hope the trip all went well for you. That Furphy is one of the new Chinese ones. The sad thing is that on eBay they are selling for more than what they cost to buy new. Sad really. Hey, look forward to seeing some photos from the trip. Derek |

Current bid AU $172.50
I just bought mine from Aussie Dsposals Toowoomba for heaps less than this! Maybe I should buy more and start an eBay shop? |

Derek.
Are you certain that is a Chinese Furphy, the lid handle certainly does not look like an Oriental one. All the new Furphy's I have seen in stores have the typical "dump end" style of handle casting, that one appears to be quite symetrical. mikel |

By crikey Mikel, I think you are right.
I need to look a bit more closer. If that's the case then this is a pre 90's Furphy before they started putting the year of manufacture on the lid. Derek |

Thanks for the link Aart, looks to have a bit of rust on the lid when you enlarge the photo, or could be grease staining

Buyer beware on this listing, the seller added the following information:
And I quote: "We have the right to cancel this auction or remove this add as it is listed elsewhere." What a load of crap!!!!!!!! This bloke is just playing everyone against each other to hock the price up of this oven, people should not be allowed to get away with this. He listed the item for auction it should be left to stand I reckon. Basically he will pull the auction if he doesn't get what he wants for it which you can do anytime up until 1 hour of the auction ending. I think I might question ebay about this loophole that I have seen people use time and time again and I don't believe its fair to the people who make the bids on the items it's just a waste of time. Just my thoughts, Astro. |

Ditto Astro. Ask Ebay.
I know that kind of statement would not be valid in N. American Ebay. Go for it. 8-) |

Title: Re: Furphy on ebay Post by mikel on Oct 16th, 2008 at 6:50am
Also unusual that it was not listed in the normal CO catagory.
I only stumbled on it by accident. Perhaps he doesnt want to sell at all, merely dipping his toe in the water. Or getting a cheap valuation. Cynical, arn't I! mikel |

I know I'll be giving it a good nudge. If he removes it you don't pay.
