Looks like it may have rusted a hole and it is filled in by the CEMENT lining.

Poor thing, that is cast iron abuse. :'(

Anyone know what the cauldron was likely to have been originally used for?? A clothes washing type copper or perhaps for some sort of fat or gelatin rendering boiler............

Geeeze good sized pot at 780MM DIAM. X 640MM HIGH.....just had the tape out.  Shame its knackered :(

Yep, I reckon it has been quite a pot in it's day.  I will be surprised if it sells though.
