Title: Homemade cooking gear Post by Saltbush Bill on Feb 20th, 2009 at 7:21pm
Stump Jump I thought you might like this……..Saw this interesting old home made wood stove when I was passing through Stanthorpe on the way to the Toowoomba Swap…..someone in need has knocked it up out of bits and pieces available at the time and used an old Kero tin for the oven part……a classy addition to any bush shack of the day and an excellent example of “bush engineering”
Shall try and do a bit more on the place I saw this stove and post a few more pics at a later date. SBB stove_1.jpg (79 KB | ) stove_2.jpg (58 KB | ) stove_3.jpg (64 KB | ) |

It's a little ripper SBB and just thing for an old bush hut. It never ceases to amaze me the uses some of the old timers found for those rectangular shaped kero drums. I've seen em used as baby baths, dish draining racks, cupboard draws, chest of draws, shelving, water buckets, wood and kindling buckets and even knocked out flat to repair holes in the roof of an old hut.
