Some one was selling these on eBay a while back. Mine are home made. Easy to make actually. I have never seen them sold commercially.
Maybe I should buy some materials, make a few then sell them. ;D ;D ;D ;D |

I've made up more lifters than I could count David but still use and reckon multi-grips pliers are the easiest and most versatile of the lot. JMHO.

I purchased a tent peg lifter a while ago, and it has ended up being my pot lifter.... Works a treat for a little cost

Multies are great as they sit in the back pocket, but as most of my ovens do not have handles I needed to have a tool that could allow the movement of ovens.
As with most ideas saw what others were using and come up with my own enhancements. 4mm rod - hook - 400mm shaft - coiled handle - 400mm chain - coiled handle - 400mm shaft - hook. The coil hanle gives substance. (will try and find a photo to do the description justice) I also now use the hooks for lid work as well, locking the lifting by bringing the hooks in from each side (good for 18'/20' ovens where the lid plus coals could be as much as 14kg). I made my CO hooks and chain for under $7.00
Bunnings have hanging pot hangers for a couple of bucks... A bit of a twist in the metal Add a bit of chain and you are done... |

Pics of my lifting gear. L to R 1.Lifter that came with my Lewis & Clark oven, never used. 2.Lifter copied from a photo (available in America) made by son in law & the one I use the most. 3.Ever reliable multigrips. 4.My original lifter for the oven & lids still used as a handle for most of my ovens. Called a "Mair" lid lifter David. same as LogFires SIL, I copied one I saw on an American site and made several. They are good, give you full control over a hot lid....... but I still pefer multigrips, you can stick 'em in your back pocket or put them in an oven when you're packing up, you can't do that with the Mair L L.
