Title: Hearing Aids
Post by Derek on Oct 29th, 2009 at 7:09pm
Told by my doctor today that I need two hearing aids.  In his words my hearing is buggered.

Anyone on here with them and how do you find them.

Good grief.  Look at this one.  I wonder if the specialists over here buy these at $20.00 a pop and resell them for a couple of grand each.

Derek, I find it  very hard to accept that your family doctor didn't give you a referral to a specialist.  I would think a hearing aid is something special to you and that you need a prescription.

I think the specialist is called an audiologist.  I had a quick look at google and that seems to be right.

But I don't know your health care system.

:)

Derek
I had a hearing test about 12 months ago, and I was quoted over 3k,
so I am still deaf, I might try a Ebay one.

I found it all quite intriguing. I thought hearing aids were more or less just like a microphone and speaker system but they are not.  They can adjust all sorts of things in them to match the particular loss you have.

I am actually looking forward to getting mine now.  Should arrive by the middle of the week.
