Title: Lid for Kenrick Boilers
Post by Kingsthorpe David on Nov 29th, 2009 at 11:56am
Wanted to buy:  lid for 2 and 3 Gallon Kenrick & Sons boilers.

I have a couple of nice bases but sadly the lids were missing when I bought them.

If anybody can find me a lid it would be most appreciated.

There is a huge antique shop in Castlemaine (Vic) that has dozens (no exaggeration) of these lids on their shelf. Looks like you'll have to organise a trip to Vic, David.

Would appreciate any contact details PD, a personal trip is not possible at the moment.
Wondered where all the lids went!
Several on eBay currently - with no lids!

I have emailed Kerrie Camp Oven at Billmans in Castlemaine  and asked her to check this out for me.

How hard would it be to make up tin lids for old oval boilers ? A bit beyond my meager skills I'll admit and a sheetmetal shop would charge a small fortune, but would it be possible to copy one ? There's a fair bit involved with the flange and double dome on the top, not a task for an apprentice metal worker although my son had to make a domed VW beetle hubcap in his second year as a panel beater.
