I checked my Aldi one and it doesnt have a size I think its a 5L or 6L, it has an upper and lower compartment for cooking two different things. I paid around $90 for it. I have to be careful not overheat it as although its not ultra thin it could have a bit heavier base I feel. I think this is the argument that the sellers of the more expensive ones make that theirs are thicker and maybe better insulation. I havent had the opportunity to test it out.
In saying all of that "you get what you pay for" and everything I have cooked in mine has turned out fine. Its handy in some circumstances when travelling and I often put a corn beef and vegies in it on our first day on the road. Also if there is a fire ban its useful. When I recently went to Bali I was on the look out for a smaller one as its recommended you fill them 2/3rds. I didnt see any there at all. |

thanks carolyn
they have a bigger one 8litres i think for $100 plus post / what i mainly wanted to know is are they a good alternative when fire bans on / they say 18/10 stainless but not how heavy they are / i suppose it depends on insulation qualities thanks Daryl |

KD, I only ask once, I don't beg anyone for anything :D :D
The early answer was that they dont even use heat beads but then I cooked something using beads, cant remember what. It doesnt bother me one iota, if and when I do something different in the Thermal Pot I will post it up in the general area where its been acceptable. The half dozen things I have done cover what I would use it for most and they are all at http://www.youtube.com/user/CAROLYNSCOCIOZ [smiley=rofl.gif] In fairness this is a "Camp Oven" Forum and we are lucky to be able to post so much OT stuff so I wont be rocking the boat. :D :D |
