Title: my Cheese savoury bread Post by jclures on Apr 10th, 2010 at 3:54pm
I tried Carolyn’s recipe for bread sticks the other day. They came out well, but it gave me an idea I thought I might try with cheese and garlic on top.
I tried it out with friends at a camping trip over the Easter weekend, but I took no photos, so I made it again today. As I can’t smell very well I relied on Bonnie, she told me the aroma was beautiful while cooking, and it came out light and moist. Ingredients Laucke bread mix Tasty cheese shredded Parmesan cheese Powdered Milk Butter Garlic paste 375m warm water Method Mix bread mix, a couple of tablespoons of powdered milk, (I just guessed) some butter (about ¼” slice of the end of the block), and the yeast. Once mixed add the warm water and mix. Turn the dough out and kneed for around 10 minutes. Set aside until it doubles in size, nock down and give a quick kneed. Spray some oil on the bottom of the camp oven. (I used an olive oil) Place the dough in the Camp oven, I cut it into sections with my egg flip. Mix the butter (about a ½’ slice), shredded cheese, a couple of spoon fulls of parmesan cheese and a squeeze of the garlic paste and then sprinkle over the top of the dough. I also gave this a light spray of oil Set aside and let it rise again. Bake it for around 30 to 35 minutes, or until cooked. I had to put some baking paper on top as my dough rose to the top of the camp oven. In my camp oven cooker I used 12 heat beads on the bottom and 10 on top. Ingredients Kneeded dough Dough Dough in camp oven Cheese mix Cheese mix on top |

You got a good looking bread, I think its half the fun getting an idea and tweaking it to make it your own way. I am too impatient to worry too much about getting rolls the same size so this idea of cutting it into sticks or wedges suits me fine and I think has some rustic appeal. I just love the bottom shot.

YUM! that bread looks beautiful! My kids would scoff that down in a heart beat - and if you put some shredded bacon on the top with the cheese it would be pretty good too, I would imagine!

VicStar don’t worry about the kids, my Father scoffed it down pretty quick. ;D
When I was making it I thought about putting shredded bacon on top, but I had none in the fridge, next time I make it I will try some then. |
