Jono, I know it's very upsetting when it happens but it happens to most of us fishing folk from time to time. Have you thought about fitting a new tip guide to the stump? The rod won't ever be quite as good as the complete unit but it's better than not using it or throwing it away (Perish the thought of throwing away a G Loomis rod :o :o :o) |

SJ
Under the Loomis Lifetime warranty, Loomis will replace the rod anytime/any amount of times for $200 bucks a pop. I figured I am better off outlaying another 200 and have the rod I want rather then turning a 700 dollar rod into a dodged up rod I didn't want (I reckon the top 2 inches of a rod are the 2 inches that count). $700-$900 sheeese whats another $200 :D :D :D In order for them to send the new rod out I had to turn to the hacksaw and cut off the section of the rod with the details and post it to them. I guess so they know I have destroyed the rod and they can then send the identical rod back to me. Aart Not much more to the story mate. The tip got caught on a crabpot as it was lifted into the boat and she was all over :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( I felt like I had to scrape my heart off the floor of the boat. A lesson learnt. I even had the hard case in the boat but was too lazy to spend 30 seconds to pull the reel off and put it away. Next time I will Cheers Jono |

Ive got a fair idea of the look on your face Jono.....I saw my son just after he had slammed his 6 week old G Loomis "perch rod" in his car door...he wasnt a happy boy I can tell ya. He took his to the local tackle shop were he bought it and got the same sort of replacement deal. :) To be honest I thought paying that much money for a rod was crazy when he bought it,,,,,that was untill I saw how far he can flick a tiny tiny lure with it :o :o :o :o SBB |

Interesting Jono, does this warranty apply to all G Loomis rods regardless of age. I own a 23 year old G Loomis 3 weight fly rod which has survived to date (touch wood :o), however there's always the chance that I could inadvertently snap the tip off on a low hanging limb of a tree while false casting or slip over on the river bank and crunch the tip on the rocks. |

Not 100% sure mate, I would have thought so the way the guys in the tackle store were talking. They did say that if the broken rod type was no longer available they would send you the next closest rod in their current range. I would just have a yarn to the local Loomis dealer in your area. I reckon you will have a win. Pretty good deal I reckon. Cheers Jono |
