Title: Luv Markets
Post by Michaelb on Jun 14th, 2010 at 3:09pm
Folks picked this up at the market, a Pedang Steam Boat, I was after a Mongolian Hot Pot, but this is exactly the same, should do fine.

We have been using the lid of the bedourie as a simmer pot.

Good find Michael.........I have one of those somewere in the shed :-/  but have never used it .............I think they are pretty widely used thoughout Asia......google searches for Thai steamboat and Malaysian steamboat all bring up a heap of results.
There seems to be about a million differnt ideas on what stock/ soup you should make to use in it. Be interested to know how it goes when you cook in it,

Skip you fill the thing with what ever stock (Chicken&chillie) you want and get it to a slow simmer, throw in a chunk of fresh ginger for the bite, then you have a plate of raw vegetables, cabbage, soft needles, strip beef and chicken, prawns, squid, then ever body Cooke's their own, at the end of the feast the remaining stock which has been flavoured by everything that has been cooked is drank like soup either right there or the next day.

Thanks Michael, good links too. I reckon that would be a pretty tasty brew after the cooking was completed.
I would be able to do my favourite "Mi Goreng" noodles in there Michael-thanks for the explanation.
