Title: The Forum Post by Derek on Jun 27th, 2010 at 2:32pm
Did a bit of maintenance on the forum today as well as a backup. Not a great deal as it generally manages itself now.
The guys over at YaBB have been working on Version 3 of the software for quite some time now and it is looking to be something really spectacular. The main feature will be the database system it will run on. This software works on a flat file system and the new one a structured query language. Certainly will be a great new piece of software The only thing is, it will come as a base model without all the features this one has and I estimate that it took me about 300 hours of time to set this up to what it is now. If and when we transfer over I can see some late nights/early mornings coming up :-[ |

If there is anything I can do to help just let me know - I always hate it when things change but you have to move with the times.
For me this is the clearest and best set up forum I go to and I hope it will stop much the same. I certainly appreciate all the work you have put into it. |

The guys have released a new version of YaBB. This is not the full version I mentioned above although it does have a lot of new features. Below is a screen shot. The main change is that where the posters details are currently on the left this one has them spread across the top of the post page.
What are your thoughts on that. Click on it to bring it to full size if you like. Don't worry about the colours as this is just the base model. Will take me quite a while to recolour it if I go with it. |

Looks good to me. I don't think I can see any refinements that would cause me any problems.
Regards Skip :) |

Hi Derek,
Does the newer verion of YaBB reduce the amount of 'open space' in each post block. H |

Yep, it looks like it does because all the info is across the top and not down the side |
