G'day all,
Just wondering how long is the most time you've owned the same vehicle for...
Back in '94 i bought a second hand '84 Dual Cab Toyota Hilux, i owned that same old truck till the start of 2008, and in that 14 years besides general servicing all that was also replaced was 1 alternator and 1 rear diff center, she had the "big" 2 ltr petrol motor and had clocked up 370,000klms when i sold her, she only averaged around 7000klms a year for the last few years i owned her, as i mainly only used her to drive to work and cart my punt and pig dogs to the river and surrounding cattle stations etc, she did alot of bush driving often through scrub were there wasn't any sort of roads...... the old girl was flat out holding 100kph on the h'way but made up for it with genuine toughness and reliability, she always got me home.............. geez i miss her, oh and her name was Hessy, my Mrs the kids even mates called her that..........sob, sob.....
So yeah, tell me your story????

yeah mate, havent kept many cars for a long time, but did trade in my 1st missus after 20 years and got a new model (best thing i ever did)  ;D ;D ;D

I've still got a 99 2.8TD manual Nissan Patrol.
Got 245,000 on the clock.
Hasn't cost me much money apart frpm servicing and some items that need replacement after fair wear and tear..eg shockies, springs and some minor stuff.
She is a bit undergunned and has to be driven harder to perform.
Would love to have a new 4wd to do the hard yards with a caravan in the next year or so..
Can't find anything worth buying under $60k..
May have to spend a little more on a V8TD Landcruiser GXL ute.
Would hate to see the Patrol go after all the good years of service.
I am attached to it.

I have my 86 Nissan Patrol ordered  from Japan. It has had heart surgery though, a couple of times. :)
We wont discuss the missus though she might read it. ;D

I'm in the same position Aart, my '94 LandCruiser still does the job but is getting a bit weary, I'd like a late model 'Cruiser, (V8 ?) Trouble is my present vehicle is worth next to nothing trade in and $60k is a big ask so ...............

Iv'e had a Zuke 83' model Sierra since 86'....... 24yrs.
Now in highly modified form, it has not been registered for 10yrs but still gets fired up & a short run now & then.
I keep threatening to finish painting it & get it back on the road but there always seems to be something else I want/need to spend money on first. :( :( :(

Ahhh, good to hear i'm not the only one who appreciates a reliable, tough, and not particulary attractive old truck.......... still wish i hadn't sold ol' Hessy....... though when we moved back to the big smoke, the poor old girl just wouldn't of coped with the rat race, so i left her where she did her best work, out bush..... hope she's still chuggin' about and being treated with the respect she deserves..... lots of good memories....... her last big trip we did in her was a big call for an old 2ltr petrol hilux...... it was back in about 2001 and before we could afford a newer car, we loaded ol' hessy up with me the Mrs and four kids aged between 15 and 2 and drove her all the way from Charters Towers inland to Bundaburg in one bloody day, and of course she got us there safe and sound, i think from memory it took 18 hours, with regular stops etc, at the time i had a bench seat from a single cab hilux in the front, so as to fit the 15year old in who we were legal guardians of........... and she was loaded in the back too...... we spent a week down in Bundy visiting in laws then headed back up the coast to T'ville then west to Charters Towers, this was a week before Xmas, and most of the time the A/C was off as with it on it was hard to maintain 90k/hr........ tough times but would do it again tomorrow, the kids appreciate the '99 100 series cruiser these days, hehe

I retired my 1984 full size Jeep Cherokee a few months ago with at least a half million k's on it.  With a big, thirsty 6lt V8 it was time to go.  Bit of rust in the body was another reason.
My current ride is a 1996 Grand Cherokee and it is coming up to the 333333 km mark in a month or so.  I will need to re-motor it soon and that is mainly due to the LPG head damage.
Still a good car and gets driven daily and still goes off-road on a regular basis.

Well I dont have a 4wd, but the AU ford (I know I'm waiting for the flack) has done 248,000 klms, she has been camping all over the place with her mate the 6" x 4", she had 66,000 klm when we brought her, has cost me very little, regularly serviced, cant see her going any where in the near future, plenty of towing grunt.

all of my vehicles have been under $10K. (don't like paying them off [smiley=chef.gif])

an 89 nissan terrano 2.7 TD let me explore a lot of 4wd country in SA/Vic.

had a navara dual cab4wd and my proudest 4wd, a Fj40.

content now-a-days cruising comfortably in our Au.
