Yes I can confirm that price tag as I saw it with my own eyes :o :o :o As I recall the vendor at the swapmeet did all the negotiating for PD and said to him he could have it for $30!!!!! I could'nt believe my ears, what a good buy :o Personally I would have walked away, it was a bit too steep at that price ;D ;D ;D Astro. |

What a great find pd, you have done very very well, great ovens all of them, and I bet you got them for a good price. I love the 8 inch furphy looking forward to seeing them all cleaned up :)

The 8" Furphy came from an antique dealer and in spite of some hard bargaining I had to trade in my wife's car and some of her jewellery, she wasn't happy lol. The same dealer said ,"I've got a few more ovens at home in the garage, do you want to see them ?" We went back to his place and he brought out several Furphy's, a couple of old unnamed 12" pots and a 13" Harding (which I bought).
Most trips I return home empty handed CO wise, this time I came home with an empty wallet. I have started cleaning them and will post pics later. pd |

If it wasn't for the port PD would never sleep, he lives and dreams cast iron. PD and I waked for 6 hrs at Bendigo searching for the elusive C.I. It would appear that cast iron attracts bad weather. Want rain, rub a camp oven.

You know you've got castironitis bad when you drive over 1,000kms, get up in the early morning dark and stand in the rain waiting for the gates to open at 6.00am then trudge around for hours in mud up to your hocks looking for camp ovens, Muzz and myself weren't the only ones, Astro and his dad did the same.
It's a sickness.... pd |
