Title: Furphy Water Fountain
Post by poddy dodger on Jan 13th, 2011 at 7:52pm
I watched with anticipation the Furphy water fountain on eBay, anticipation 'cause I was going to have a bid before it took off and sold today for $736.75, that's way beyond my budget.

I think I remember Astro saying you could buy them new less than a decade ago for a couple of hundred bucks, well that's inflation for you.

Dont ya wish you had bought a pallet load back then  PD...... ;D Im sure the Furphy mob would have given a discount for that many.  By the way...when at swap meets dont accidently walk past one of these thinking its a CO lid with a chip out of the edge ;)

Incredible SBB!!!

The price of that water cart lid is more than twice as much as I paid at a clearing sale 12 years ago, for a complete and serviceable Furphy water cart !!!

Obviously well healed these Furphy collectors   :-/ :-/ :-/

Don't give too many secrets away SBB.
I saw two of these water tank lids at an antique shop in Elmore a couple of years ago at $200 each. When I got back in the truck I said to my bride, "Bloke having himself on... $200 for a Furphy lid... ha ha".

It’s not uncommon to come across Furphy carts on farms where the lid was missing. I used to think that over time they must have been misplaced or lost, however after reading this thread I’m beginning to wonder ….. :-/
