25cm might be a bit close.  Try a 30 cm gap for your build.

ps We went from Imperial to Metric some many years ago...  ;)

In case you hadn't noticed.....   ;D

I still prefer inches even though I was brought up with the metric system.
The trouble is "they" say we went metric but in many cases all "they" did was put a metric figure on an imperial nominal size.
Being a machinist is a perfect example.....
when you get a drawing of a shaft to make & the critical diameter says 152.4mm........WTF! that's not nominal metric, the size is exactly 6 inches.

& most of your timber or steel sections are sizes like 76 x 102mm.......WTF? ...try 3" x 4"

Metric sucks! but it does make much more sence when I'm doing Engineering Calcs.

Hey, Mick, go into a building supply store over here and don't even bother saying metric.  We all talk inches and feet.

Of course, a finished planed 2x4 is 1.75" x 3.5"

& for all I understand, wtf,  I'm more apt to hear HUH, Bloody Hell, or maybe fuddleduddle.

I assume you are old enough to know who coined the word 'fuddleduddle'.    Or am I wrong?

;)  :-/

Not familiar with Fuddle Duddle LK but Fuddie Duddie is common here, it refers to an old person who has got a bit vague or dottie.

Same here with the timber though, 1.75 x 3.5 is a dressed size, 4 x 2 is a rough size from the mill, most of our hard woods are in undressed sizes & soft woods come in dressed sizes.

Old Fuddie Duddie was used when I was a child but that was a long time ago.

Males checking out my Mair Lifter feel the 14"would be best.  Here is their sizes and suggested uses.  I have hands made of heat resistant leather and find the 9" ok.

Comes in three sizes, a 14" for working
at a table or on a cooking stand, a 22" for
cooking in a pit or close to the ground, and our newest addition the 9" perfect for cooking
in your kitchen, or for those of us who are altitude challenged.

wider on bottom 2 pins/ 50mm [2 ins]
instead of 32mm/ [1 1/4 ins] still works
