Title: Un-marked Oven 2 Post by Saltbush Bill on Feb 6th, 2011 at 3:44pm
G'day folks.
I picked this oven up in an old wares / antique shop on my way to the the Toowoombah swap meet on Thursday. Its not marked in any way that I can see. It measures amost exactly 11 1/2 inches inside diameter. Seems to be of good quality and has a nice humped lid...similar to an Albion oven. At $60 I couldnt leave it behind.....kinda fell in love with the humpy lid ;D Does anyone else have one or know anything about them???...... SBB One leg is on a slightly different angle to the others ...but I would consider this a "factory fault" |

Very nice find SBB and a good price to I like the dome lid looks to be a old one and in good condition. I have a similar looking oven to that one; I will post some pics when I get back to Perth some time mid Feb. :)

Dear George Thank you so much for the concern you have shown regarding the terrible burden I have to suffer of carrying around an un-named and wonky legged oven. If at some time in the future I feel that the burden of carrying around such an inferior oven is to great I shall be sure to contact you, the chances of this happening however is similar to a snow balls chance in hell. Thank you again for your kind thoughts Saltbush Bill |

OJ I agree it does look very much like an albion......however the ID size of 11.5 inches makes me think that its something else. Also from what Ive seen of Albions most of them seem to have splayed legs. (pointing outwards slightly) The legs on this oven are more vertical like Metters legs.

After reading your post SBB I remembered I had an oven with one very skewed leg so I checked and sure enough it's an Albion, says No 10 on the lid so I measured it, 9 1/2" ID, a coincidence, the crooked leg and the missing 1/2" ?
At the Bathurst Swap Meet I saw a pretty sad No10 Albion , the legs had been seriously and unevenly shortened, very rusty and although I didn't notice Astro says it was cracked too, $50 firm. I didn't buy it but someone did. pd |

Ran a tape over my ten Albion with the same result Rob. Its a battle to get 10 inches out of it using OD. Im wondering if the original Molds were made without allowance being made for the shrinkage rate of cast.
