Sundryed and me ownself continued our ongoing search for any orphan camp ovens at the Cessnock Swap Meet yesterday but without success. The only ones I saw were two very poor Chinese ones so we kept our money in our pockets. Other than that disappointment it was a good day, the numbers were down on last year but some unusual stuff on sale, it makes you wonder where some of the sellers get their stock.
I saw lots of old oil bottles, one gallon oil cans and other garagenalia change hands for serious money, $250 plus and they reckon we're mad paying that sort of dollars for lovely cast iron pots lol.

Got an old 1qt. Moblil oil bottle here, but still use it to top up the old B&S on the mower.

Yeh, she does use a drop of oil, but not enough go from the 1qt. bottle to the old 1gal. Shell tin I also have.

'Praps if a bloke cashed em both in, would have enough coin to shout a new mower,eh.

What makes a bloke cry (for them) is what history in collectables was washed out and destroyed in the recent Qld. floods.
Real sadness there, never to be replaced.

I dont know if the Japanese are bower birds like us, they do seem to live in a minimalist way of life.
But have to feel for their losses also.

I agree mikel, lotsa lovely old stuff would have been washed away or damaged beyond repair but that's what makes the surviving items rarer and more valuable.
I drove a D9 'dozer on a huge landfill tip on the northern outskirts of Sydney way back and it would make your cry the stuff I dozed and buried and we are still a very wasteful society in spite of recycling in recent years.
BTW, I didn't come away from Cessnock empty handed lol, got a very nice 2 gallon Clark water fountain.

Mick the big one is in August and a top event, I got a 12 metters in top condition for $20.00 without a lid, had a spare lid at home.
Goulburn is on the week before Thora. PD and I went it is another good swap.

Mick, as Muzz says, the big not to be missed swap meet is the one at Cessnock in August but if you look up swap meets on the 'net you'll see there's one at Orange soon, supposed to be good and Dubbo has one coming up but you'll have to get there early to beat Astro. lol
