Title: magnetic thermometer for lid of camp oven
Post by peterseaford on Apr 7th, 2011 at 4:28pm
was talking to a mate who works for a mob that make magnetic thermometers for camp ovens - seems as though they reflect the inside temperature of the oven without lifting the lid and loosing steam and heat.

the theory then is to adjust the number of heat beads to have the temperature you need .

Only costs me $30 delivered so I will try one and see if it helps a new boy like me.

Did search the site and could not find any reference to this sort of gadget and interested if anybody has one.

Seems these sort of things get handed down from father to son so I missed out some where

regards

peter

Not sure how that would go, I use mainly coals cooking in the bush. Would probably cover it up or melt something. :)

We often use those in Fab shops when pre - heating a job.
They can take a beating.
Would work fine if stuck to the side of your CO.

Probably the same thing but the infrared themometers at Bunnings and on eBay are just point and get a digital readout. Good for wheel bearings, brake drums, camp ovens, wives when they're doing a slow burn or even your fire when it doesn't seem to have much heat.
